~ Frequently Asked Questions ~

Q. How long have you been photographing weddings?
A. I have been photographing weddings all over the world for over 16 years. Unlike most of todays rookie wanna-be wedding photographers, having photographed almost 2000 weddings I know what to expect in the way of "surprises". Your wedding memories are much too important to entrust your wedding photos to a rookie who is training and practicing on your wedding.

Q. Will you be the one photographing our wedding?
A. Absolutely, Yes.  I do not hire and send others out to shoot my weddings.  My wife Christina and/or another assistant photographer will accompany me to your wedding and photograph as well. Depending on the size and complexity of the wedding, I may add additional photographers at my own discretion.

Q. How long will you be at our wedding?
A. I am yours for the entire day.  I do not operate on a time limit and leave in the middle of the reception as many photographers do. You can enjoy the reception knowing that I will capture it all and without having to worry about when I'm leaving. I leave when you leave.

Q. Do you have back-up equipment?
A. I have at least three of everything, and four or five of most things.  Many so-called photographers do not.  I also use the highest quality and level of professional equipment that can get the live shot in very little light, not hobbyist level consumer cameras from Costco like many others do.  I am very serious about what I do for you and it will show in the resulting images.

Q. Do you have insurance?
A. Yes, I actually have four types of insurance - equipment, business, e&o, and the most important type, liability (in case Uncle Charlie trips on a cord).  I have never had a claim.  Again, many so-called photographers (weekend hobbyists) do not even have any kind of insurance, nor a business license for that matter. This should be a concern for you and for your ceremony and reception venues.

Q. What do you wear to the wedding?
A. I dress appropriately, as if I'm actually going to a wedding - unlike many other photographers.  This is a pet peeve of mine. We don't show up in jeans and a t-shirt or try to look all artsy and eclectic, but try to blend in. We usually try to match your wedding colors and often do..

Q. How many photos do you take at the wedding?
A. There is no set number, but on average it is usually around 900-1200. More on very large weddings and slightly fewer on more intimate weddings. I shot 650 with a couple in Scotland (zero guests or bridal party) and close to 4000 on several of my most recent celebrity weddings. About 90-100 images per hour on average. When I see something I shoot it. Better to have it than not.

Q. Will our pictures be available to view on the internet?
A. Yes, about 5-7 days after the wedding, all photos will be on a password protected website.  They will be hosted there for 90 days and then automatically expire. Family, friends and guests can view and even order, saving you the effort of keeping track of who wants what and being the middle man.

Q. Do we get Proof Prints of everything you shoot?
A. Yes. Your Proof Prints will be ready about 10-12 days after the wedding. The numbers on the back of the photos will match those on the website. The photos are yours to keep. They will assist you in the selection of your album images. You can also make other use of them in frames or give as gifts.

Q. What types of albums do you offer?
A. I offer the finest quality albums from around the world - GraphiStudio™ books from Italy, Renaissance™ books from New York and Asuka™ books from Japan.  All of these albums will make those stuffy old albums of the past pale in comparison. They are infinitely more flexible in design and in the number of images that they can contain. I can also get any album from any manufacturer you like if you have a certain preference.

Q. When do we need to choose the photos for our album?
A. That's entirely up to you, but the sooner the better. I would recommend around 12-16 weeks after the wedding if you can, but some people take 9-12 months or even longer. The winter holidays are very busy for album production and there is a submission deadline of the first week of October for delivery by Christmas.

Q. How do you stay current with wedding trends?
A. I belong to several photography and wedding related associations. I was the President of a wedding vendor association for two years and have been a member for 15 years since its creation.

I read a lot! I am an information sponge. I receive and read every major photography magazine and bridal magazine. I read fashion magazines as well. I spend a lot of time on both photography and wedding forums.

I attend two major wedding photography conventions in Las Vegas every year. I am a technical and business consultant to other photographers nationwide.

I have photographed weddings all over the world and have seen and experienced much more than the average wedding photographer.
